TMS FLEX ASSEMBLY OPTIONS

As on-site conditions often vary, TESVOLT’s battery storage systems can be flexibly adapted. The options cover power levels, cabinet or rack mounting and interfaces to external inverters and energy management systems.

TMS flex R variant

In standard cabinet or rack systems, the battery string is typically top to bottom, with the APU being positioned in the top slot and subsequent battery modules being connected in series below. In modular systems, however, assembly can be much more complex. One option in this regard is to place the APU in any slot of the battery cabinet/rack, not necessarily in the top one. Similarly, subsequent battery modules can be mounted in different cabinets/racks. The main objective is to optimise the available space by achieving a high energy density in a limited space and ensuring a compact design.

TMS flex C variant

Our cabinet options protect battery storage systems from mechanical damage. The robust metal body secures all the technology within a small footprint and – depending on the design, application and location – also provides active or passive cooling. With the flex C variant, the battery storage system can also be adapted to suit the technical requirements and space conditions, with a cabinet size that can accommodate any desired battery module and fits the available space.

Technology

Active power unit (APU)

The APU is the built-in battery system protection at cell and module level and is part of the battery management system. It enables communication with the other devices in the system. The APU also monitors the safety of the battery system as well as the state of charge and the ageing of the batteries.

DynamiX Battery Optimizer (DBO)

The second balancing system in our E series is the DynamiX Battery Optimizer (DBO), which is based on resistance balancing. Each filter fan of the battery module is integrated in the balancing system to enhance cell balancing performance. Module and cells are actively cooled and the cells are kept at an identical voltage level. Reducing the thermal load maximises the lifespan of the cells.

Battery cells

We only use lithium NMC cells from SAMSUNG SDI, which offer unique performance in terms of their calendar and cyclic lifespan. The prismatic design also makes them highly stable and thus extremely safe. Their high energy density makes them very powerful, and they boast a recycling rate of over 90%.
