Charging station control

Peak performance, not peak loads

The grid connection can quickly reach its limits – especially when it comes to larger charging parks or the upcoming expansion work to the electric vehicle charging infrastructure in apartment buildings, supermarkets and commercial enterprises. This is why TESVOLT Energy Manager’s charging station control is a dual benefit.

1. You can avoid expensive grid connection expansion, since the system regulates the power consumption from the regional grid using the TESVOLT battery storage system, avoids load peaks and thus protects against overload.

2. Electricity produced in-house can be used for charging purposes to considerably cut electricity costs.

How you benefit

  • Avoid peak loads
  • Cut electricity costs
  • Avoid expensive grid expansion
  • Smart control over the charging park
  • Prioritisation of vehicles

How does it work?

The TESVOLT Energy Manager communicates with compatible charging stations and electric vehicles using the vehicle app. Once programmed, the user can make settings specific to the charging station or vehicle.

Charging electric vehicles exclusively or primarily from electricity produced in-house: the charging process only starts when e.g. enough in-house electricity has been stored in the battery storage system and a pre-set charging threshold has been reached. Alternatively, the charging stations are only allocated as much electricity as the generating plant can produce at any given time and if this is not needed elsewhere.

Prioritising charging stations: you can define in advance which charging stations will be prioritised for supply with the TESVOLT Energy Manager. For example, customer parking spaces can be prioritised over employee parking spaces because customer vehicles are generally parked for a shorter time.

Time-dependent control of charging parks: defining a fixed time window in which the vehicle fleet is to be charged, e.g. to relieve other consumers or to save costs.

Quick charging: if the power required for charging the vehicles exceeds the grid connection’s capacity, the battery storage system supplies additional electricity.
